So many people are fearful of eating soy products because they're afraid it's gonna mess with their estrogen levels... Men are afraid they're going to grow man boobs and women are afraid they're going to end up developing estrogen dominance.
The research doesn't support these outrageous claims! Why? How?!
When we consume phytoestrogens our body has a VASTLY different response than if we were to intake estrogen! And this is all because there are TWO DIFFERENT estrogen receptors in our body's! The estrogen our body's make interacts with the alpha receptors on very specific tissues whereas phytoestrogens (like those from soy products) interact with the beta receptors on other tissues! So the target tissues are different AND how the molecules get brought into said cells even differs!
Who shouldn't eat soy?
According to a national survey, 1 in 2,000 people has a soy allergy. That's 40 times less than the most common allergen, dairy milk. As well as about 10 times less than all the other allergens, fish, eggs, shellfish, gluten, or peanuts.
