What is a wart?
A wart is a small, grainy skin growth that most often occurs on your fingers or hands. Warts are rough to the touch and may appear to have tiny black specks throughout (caused by clotted blood vessels).
What causes warts?
Warts are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) and are transmitted by touch. It can take a wart 2-6 months to develop after your skin has been exposed to the virus. Common warts are usually harmless and eventually disappear on their own.
What if I want to get rid of my warts?
Allopathic medicine clinicians will often recommend things like salicylic acid, freezing/cryotherapy, minor surgery, or laser treatment. If you're interested in learning more about these methods and what they might entail before visiting your allopath, Mayo Clinic's website has some more information.
There must be a more natural, cheaper, and effective alternative, isn’t there?
Let me Introduce you to a powerful, multi-faceted, well researched plant extract: Tea Tree Oil.
Tea tree oil is beneficial for healing a variety of skin conditions. How, you might ask? Tea tree contains a compound called terpinolene, and terpines are powerful HPV eradicating compounds. Other than just warts, it has been found to be beneficial in healing scars, eczema, psoriasis, and acne. It is also widely antiseptic and antibacterial. As for warts, research shows application of a couple drops of tea tree oil directly on the wart, allowing it to sit awhile so the skin absorbs the oil; repeating 2-3 times daily until the wart is gone.
Does it work?
I personally have used this method on a few warts of my own, and found it to work quickly and efficiently, without any added skin irritation. It's definitely worth looking into!
